Zionism and the Houthis: Divergent Paths, Shared Tactics.
Someday, they will get justice and reparations. The Martyrs.
This will be a long article, so roll your-sleeves, get your tea, sip and read.
YEMEN
Growing up in Sana’a—the capital of a country in the Middle East that has faced multiple colonial occupations by Britain and the Ottoman Empire for many years—Yemen has witnessed an economy stuck in stagnation, paralyzed by sanctions imposed by America and its Western allies. After three decades of dictatorship, former president Ali Abdullah Saleh was killed by the opposition—the Houthi militia—once his allies, the very men he would call in times of uncertainty. Oh, how the tables turned.
Having ruled Yemen for decades on end, Ali Abdullah’s selfishness and greed had gotten the best of him. Elon Musk is now the richest person, according to Forbes, but many don’t know that between 2014 and 2016, Ali Abdullah was once considered the richest man on Earth—not through business ownership, but through a massive government money heist that led Yemen to the brink of starvation. Meanwhile, Mr. “Marie Antoinette” was living lavishly around Dubai and Europe as the Houthis were strategically planning, catching him with the very grave he had been digging for them.
There’s an Arabic proverb: Whoever digs a hole for his brother ends up falling into it himself.
Let’s be clear: I oppose all dictator-like leaders and any governments that deceive their citizens. The Houthi militia is a regime backed by Iran that denies democracy and elections to a humiliated population. The UN has called Yemen the worst man-made famine in history. For centuries, Yemen has been a land “wanted” by many—largely due to its strategic location at the mouth of the Bab al-Mandab Strait, which positions it as one of the most coveted regions for economic and geopolitical control.
To explain: The Bab el-Mandeb acts as a strategic link between the Indian Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea via the Red Sea and the Suez Canal. Most petroleum and natural gas exports from the Persian Gulf that transit the Suez Canal or the SUMED Pipeline pass through both the Bab el-Mandeb and the Strait of Hormuz.
When it comes to global narratives, the media often loves to bash the Houthis, calling them terrorists (which I agree with). Some even call them heroes for what they claim is a heroic stance in support of Palestinians. Well, yes, I stand with Palestinian freedom—and so should you—but the Houthis are not a mirror we should proudly look into. Their rise to power contradicts the very values they claim to uphold.
Just like Zionism masks colonial ambition with spiritual entitlement, the Houthis use religious righteousness to justify oppressive rule. Let’s take a look at Zionism and its core beliefs—stay with me, because this will make sense. You’ll see just how many parallels exist between Zionist ideology and the Zaidi Shia beliefs that form the Houthis’ core. Zionism is the belief that Jews have a God-given right to the Holy Land, many zionists when you tell them this they agree until you mention well with what compromise does that come with, well with the mass murder of palestinians to achieve land grab and safety. Yes yes many will also say well thats false, you dont know what zionism is. Isn’t that what many extremist ideologies contradict once face with any contradiction questions. Hertzl the founder of zionism himself, a white european christian nationislt and anti semite in his own words “We must expropriate gently the private property on the estates assigned to us. We shall try to spirit the penniless population across the border by procuring employment for it in the transit countries, while denying it any employment in our country. The property owners will come over to our side. Both the process of expropriation and the removal of the poor must be carried out discreetly and circumspectly,” he wrote in an 1895 journal entry.
